I checked the oil level before a long journey some 450 miles with 2 overnight stops. Then started the home ward journey stopped for a break and noticed smoke from under the bonnet. Checked to find I had left off the oil filler cap, oil every were let it cool cleaned best I could dipped oil non put oil in then drove 5 miles lots of white smoke and engine reving stopped.

Vehicle recovery when on break down truck noticed clean oil in tail pipe. Vehicle clean up drained and refilled to correct level.

Drove round the city also a few shopping trips no problems the was driving after 7 miles smoking again checked could see no reason waited 20/25 minutes continue on journey some 50 round trip no problems.

Any ideas ???

Could oil have contaminated the DPF if yes what is solution. ?????
